Swami Vivekananda is an Indian Hindu Monk.  He was born in 12th January 1863 in Calcutta, India. He belongs to a traditional Bengali Kayastha family. In childhood he was interested in spirituality and used to do meditation before the images of deities Shiva, Rama and Sita, Hanuman.  Swami Vivekananda was also interested in Hindu scriptures including VEDAS, UPANISHADS, BHAGAVAD GITA, RAMAYANA, MAHABHARATA and PURANAS. While studying Swami Vivekananda also learned, Sanskrit and Bengali literatures.

Swami Vivekananda was introduced of Ramakrishna Paramhansa (who eventually became his final Guru) by his professor William Hastie. After his teacher (guru) Ramakrishna’s death, Swami Vivekananda started the first Ramakrishna Mutt at Baranagar. Swami Vivekananda travelled all over India and he went to Chicago. He delivered his speech during his visit at PARLIAMENT OF RELIGIONS. He also travelled China, Japan, and Canada. He gave many speeches to public during his travel. Swamy Vivekananda has got published many of his works in his life time.

Swami Vivekananda’s death was on 4th July 1902. That day morning he went to the chapel in early hours at Belur Mutt and performed meditation about three hours. The same  evening, he died at 9:10 PM while performing meditation.
