Optimizing Your Data Loss Prevention Program

- 9 reads
As the data we store online increases in quantity and sensitive data becomes more valuable to hackers, protecting that data is becoming an ongoing priority. Many security-conscious organizations have taken action to protect sensitive data with data loss prevention (DLP) technology. To provide enhanced cybersecurity, however, DLP technology will only be a piece of the puzzle when protecting organizational data.
We encourage our customers to ask “what,” “why,” and “how.” What data do you need to protect? Why does that data need to be protected? How do I protect that data? This context is important so that the technology monitors, detects, and protects the right data. Without asking these questions, the wrong data may be blocked and sensitive data could be left out, being vulnerable to an attack.
Aurora has an experienced professional services team that can guide you through implementing DLP Services to get the most out of your DLP technology. Testing policies and planning head is an important part of data loss prevention. Ongoing and upfront planning can prevent your organization from running into issues such as having too much or too little block controls on sensitive data, either preventing data from getting to the right person, or not stopping data from getting to the wrong person.
A well-rounded DLP program should require planning, doing, and reviewing. A common mistake is forgetting to review DLP once it is already implemented. Aurora’s DLP Services encompass all three steps. We will help you identify sensitive data to reflect compliance requirements. The team will then implement the operating system and create policies for responding to incidents. Finally, we will review the effectiveness of current controls and identify areas of improvement.
If it has been a while since you have reviewed your DLP program, we can help. As premier partners with Symantec, a Division of Broadcom, our team of engineers are skilled at providing services around Symantec DLP. Of course, if you have other DLP in your environment, we can help you with that as well. Whatever your needs around protecting sensitive data, contact us at sales@aurorait.com to see how we can help.
