Working in Bangalore has its fair share of advantages but one of the best parts about the city is that there are plenty of fun places to visit around as well. There are plenty of holiday spots that offer the perfect getaway for the weekend.
These holiday locations can be reached by car with a self driven car in Bangalore and you can enjoy a great time with a group of buddies as you explore these hidden gems. Make sure you plan in advance and prepare yourself. Here are five awesome weekend getaways from Bangalore:
1.Kabini National Park:
The Kabini National Park is right in between Mysore and Bangalore and there are backwaters where you can relax and enjoy. The banks of the river have plenty of beautiful locations around and it is one of the most popular wildlife sanctuaries in the country.
There are beautiful animals as well here in Kabini, including the sambar deer, bisons, elephants, leopars and the elusive black panther. Plan well and prepare to catch some of the most popular animals in the region.
2.Bylakuppe:
A Tibetan settlement that’s between Mysore and Bangalore, Bylakuppe was also one of the oldest Tibetan Refugee settlements in the country. It is home to the Golden Temple, which houses a beautiful 40-foot statue of Padmasambhava Buddha.
It is the ideal location to spend some quiet moments away from the city. You can also take part in the daily rituals of the Tibetan monks and feel at peace with the prayers they chant to invoke the lord.
3.Gandikota:
Gandikota is an awesome weekend spot, with some of the best architectural delights. You can enjoy the beautiful Erramala Hills, along with the 13th Century fort that holds significant history to the Kamma Kings.
The River Pennar is also nearby and you can visit other locations like the Rangantha Swamy Temple, Gandikota Gorge viewpoint, which is arguably one of the most beautiful spots in South India, offering a splendid view of the canyons below.
4.Kalpetta:
A great spot to spend a holiday destination away from the city, Kalpetta is ideal for a weekend getaway for those who love their tea and coffee. Surrounded by plantations, you can sip on some delicious tea and explore this quiet town.
There are also many waterfalls surrounding the area where you can head over and click some cool pictures. The Sentinel Rock waterfall is one place that can be visited following a 2 kilometre trek right down the main road.
5.Kudremukh:
Translating to “Horse-face,” Kudremukh is named after a beautiful mountain range that looks like a horse. The roads are winding and provide an awesome experience of driving if you love it, There are also long coffee and tea plantations on the way which are scenic and beautiful.
You can drive down from Bangalore and reach in around seven hours but the trip up is absolutely worth it. Book a self driving car with a group of friends and enjoy a fun weekend out!
