Saint Helena Pound

Saint Helena Pound:

The Saint Helenian Pound is the common official currency of Saint Helena and Ascension which are tropical islands in the South Atlantic Ocean. Saint Helena and Ascension, along with Tristan da Cunha are the set of islands which are the British Overseas Territories. While the Saint Helenian Pound used by both Saint Helena and Ascension is fixed at par with the pound sterling, the currency which is used in Tristan da Cunha is the British pound sterling itself.

The Saint Helenian pound is further subdivided into 100 parts called pence and it is represented by the code SHP. Its symbol is denoted by £.  The banknotes which are in current circulation are £5, £10 and £20. The coins which are presently in usage are 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 pence and £1 and £2. The authority to issue and regulate the currency is vested with the Government of Saint Helena.
