Polonium Element:

Polonium Element-Polonium is a chemical element in the p-block, 16th group and 6th period of periodic table. It is a highly radioactive metallic element that is similar to selenium and tellurium, chemically. Its atomic number 84 and its symbol is Po. Polonium was discovered by Marie Curie and her husband Pierre Curie in 1898. Because of its short life isotopes it is found very rarely in nature. Hence Polonium was extracted from the uranium ore and identified solely by its strong radioactivity. Polonium has 33 known isotopes, all of which are radioactive. There are no stable isotopes.

Uses Of Polonium Element:

Because of its radioactive nature Polonium has few applications. The element is used as heaters in space probes, antistatic devices, and sources of neutrons and alpha particles. It is dangerously toxic due to its radioactivity, so Polonium has no known biological role.
