Pakistani Rupee Currency:

The Pakistani rupee is the official currency of Pakistan. State Bank of Pakistan is the Central bank of Pakistan. The official code of currency is PKR and most commonly used symbol is RS. After independence of Pakistan from the British Raj, the Pakistani rupee came under circulation in Pakistan. In 1948, new coins and banknotes were issued. It was originally divided into 16 annas, each of 4 pice or 12 pie like the Indian rupee. On 1 January 1961, the currency was decimalized with the rupee subdivided into 100 pice, renamed paise later the same year.

The denominations of 1 pice, ½, 1 and 2 annas, ¼, ½ and 1 rupee coins were introduced in 1948. In 1951, 1 pie coins were added. 1, 5 and 10 pice coins were issued in 1961, followed later the same year by 1 paisa, 5 and 10 paisa coins were issued. 10 and 25 paise coins were introduced in 1963, followed by 2 paise the next year. In 1979, 1 rupee coins were reintroduced. In 1998, introduced 2 rupees coins and 5 rupees coins introduced in 2002. In 1996, the denominations of 5, 10, 25 and 50 paise all are ceased production. The Pakistani government introduced a revised 5 rupee coin with a reduced size and weight on 15 October 2015.  Rs.10 coin was introduced in circulation on 2016.

In1948, the government issued in denominations of 1, 5, 10 and 100 rupees. 2, 5, 10 and 100 rupees notes were issued in 1953.  Only a few 2 rupees notes were issued. In 1957, 50 rupees notes were added. In 1985, 2 rupees notes were reintroduced. 500 rupees notes were introduced in 1986, followed by 1000 rupees the next year. In 1998 and 2002, 2 and 5 rupees notes were replaced by coins. In 2005, 20 rupee notes were introduced, followed by 5000 rupees in 2006.
