Einsteinium Element in Periodic Table | Atomic Number Atomic Mass

Einsteinium

Einsteinium Element:

Einsteinium is a radioactive chemical element of the actinoid series of the periodic table. It was the seventh transuranium element (the chemical elements with atomic numbers greater than 92) to be discovered. The element named after Albert Einstein. Its atomic number is 99 and represented by the symbol Es. Einsteinium does not occur in nature and it is produced by the neutron bombardment of plutonium in a nuclear reactor. It has 19 known isotopes with atomic masses ranging from 240 to 258 and it has no stable isotopes. 252Es is the longest lived isotope, has half-life 471.7 days.

Uses Of Einsteinium Element:

  • Einsteinium is mainly used for scientific research purposes. Since it is toxic due to radioactivity, its biological role is negligible.
