The region of West Indies consists of three major archipelagos the Greater Antilles, the Lesser Antilles and the Lucayan Archipelago.
The Greater Antilles consists of six countries Cayman Islands, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica and Puerto Rico. The Lucayan Archipelago, also known as Bahaman Archipelago, is a collection of the commonwealth of the Bahamas and the British Overseas Territory of the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Barbados is one among the eight sovereign states in the Lesser Antilles. The countries in the Lesser Antilles are Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago and of course, Barbados. In addition to them, the Lesser Antilles is an agglomeration of 16 non-sovereign states.
Barbados is an island nation in the Caribbean region of North America. Its capital and the biggest city is Bridgetown and the main official language is English. The world’s smallest snake, Tetracheilostoma Carlae, ten centimetres in length is found in Barbados.
