'500Kg' Egyptian Woman's Sister Accuses Indian doctors of Lying, Eman Move to Abu Dhabi

Egyptian Eman Ahmed, the world’s heaviest woman’, who is being treated at a Mumbai hospital, is in the news again. This time is not for her weight loss. While doctors claim she has 242kg, almost half her weight since her surgery, her sister Shaimaa Salim said Saifee hospital surgeon Dr Muffazal Lakdawala and the hospital ‘liars,’ claim they “put Eman on massive medication to stop her brain activity”. She underwent surgery in Mumbai's Saifee hospital; doctors said she had lost 250kg (550lbs).But her sister said this was not true, adding that her sister was in intricate health as she may have had a stroke.

Ms Abd El Aty's sister, Shaimaa Selim, released a short video on social media, alleging that her sister was still unable to speak or move, and had not lost as much weight as the hospital was claiming.Shaimaa selim said "Doctors didn't weigh her before and after. If they have any proof of her weight loss, show us the video of her weight before and after."

Shaimaa selim said describing her sister's health as complicated: "Oxygen is not normal in her body. She has to wear an oxygen mask almost all the time. There is a tube from her nose to her stomach because she can't eat or drink well from her mouth. The hospital released the new picture of Ms Abd Ei Aty following weight reduction surgery. And also says she can now fit into a wheelchair and sit up for long periods of time.

Reports say Ms Selim is unhappy because the hospital authorities believe that Ms Abd El Aty's treatment is almost over and that she can be sent home to Alexandria soon. Ms Selim said "There are cases like this in other parts of the world. In America and in other countries, there are heavyweight people. They have been in the hospital for one or two years to lose weight and become normal. "But just after a month or two here, the doctors say that I can take my sister back. I asked them how, as she is still very big and if anything happens to her in Egypt, how can I go to a hospital there?"It would be impossible and nobody would help me in Egypt. I said, 'Please please keep her for a long time to help her lose weight'," her sister said

The Hospital Has Angrily Rejected The Her Sister Statements:

Dr Aparna Govil Bhasker, the chief bariatric surgeon, officially resigned from the team in protest against Shaimaa’s statements. “What has happened is very sad. We are deeply hurt. This is the worst form of assault a doctor can face. An assault doesn’t always have to be physical. By resigning from the team, I am protesting against this form of assault,” she said.

Doctors shared a video of Eman’s physiotherapy, where she was seen lifting weights and moving her arms effectively. Dr Aparna Govil Bhasker, also shared pictures of Eman’s weighing machine showing the digits at 171kg. Dr. Govil Bhasker said We do not need to prove anything to anyone as the truth is out there for all to see. I am appalled at the irony that today when Eman’s health is the best that it has ever been in last 25 years, her sister chooses to go down this path,”

A number of doctors, including Dr Govil Bhasker, have quit the team treating her in protest of Selim’s allegations. However, Dr Lakdawala, who shot to fame as the doctor treating Eman, continues to treat her. In a series of tweets to refute Selim’s allegations, Dr Lakdawala said Truth shall Eventually Prevail.” He also confirmed that Eman’s current weight is 171kg and not 200kg as per the claims made by her sister.

Hospital officials have said this could be a strategy by the family to delay Eman’s discharge because no facility in Egypt is willing to provide free medical services. The officials added they have spent more than Rs 2 Crore of the Rs 3 Crore needed for Eman’s travel, treatment and surgery and separately collected more money through donations around the world.

Moving Egyptian Woman Eman Ahmed From Mumbai To Abu Dhabi:

Eman’s sister Shaimaa said she doesn’t trust Egyptian or Indian doctors and had called specialists from VPS Healthcare to check Eman. The hospital’s claims about Eman’s weight loss are baseless. She hasn’t lost more than 60kg and her condition is deteriorating rapidly,” alleged Shaimaa. Bariatric Surgeons of Mumbai said Transporting Egyptian woman Eman Ahmed once the world’s heaviest to Abu Dhabi will only aggravate her health problems.

Mumbai's Saifee hospital said Eman Abd El Aty had weight loss surgery and was free to go as she now weighed 172kg (380lbs), down from an estimated 500kg. Ms Abd El Aty's doctors said she would receive "secondary physiotherapy" there as the hospital is "closer to home for Eman and her family".

Saifee hospital added that it was proud of the efforts of its team of doctors, stating that "she came on a chartered cargo plane and goes back as a passenger on a flight in business class".
